What is this Volunteer Program?
The “Sustainable Livelihoods and Handicraft Development” program offers volunteers a unique opportunity to directly support SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by promoting sustainable economic opportunities within Sri Lanka’s vibrant handicraft sector. As a volunteer, you will work closely with local artisans, helping them enhance their craft skills, integrate sustainable practices, and improve the marketing of their eco-friendly products.
This program is part of the 2026 International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development, which aims to mobilize volunteers worldwide to contribute to sustainable economic growth and cultural preservation. By participating, you will play a vital role in supporting the UN’s directive to create sustainable livelihoods, fostering a thriving handicraft sector that respects the environment and promotes cultural heritage.
Volunteers will receive a globally recognized certificate from the ZeroPlastic Movement, highlighting their contributions to SDGs and sustainable economic development. This certificate is an excellent addition to your professional and educational credentials, demonstrating your commitment to meaningful global impact.
