About the 1-Week Volunteer Program
This program is ideal for those who are passionate about ocean conservation and wish to make a tangible difference in preserving marine life in Sri Lanka. Over the course of a week, you will gain hands-on experience in marine conservation, working closely with local experts and community members to protect endangered sea turtles and maintain healthy marine ecosystems.

Week 1: Introduction to Turtle Conservation and Marine Protection
- Monday to Friday: Orientation and training sessions on sea turtle conservation, including nest monitoring, hatchling release, and beach cleanup protocols.
- Morning Activities (8:00 am – 12:00 pm): Participate in beach patrols to monitor turtle nests, collect data, and ensure the safety of nesting sites.
- Afternoon Activities (1:00 pm – 4:00 pm): Engage in community education programs, conduct beach cleanups, and assist in maintaining turtle conservation facilities.
- Weekend: Free time to explore local beaches, participate in snorkeling or diving activities, and visit nearby cultural sites.
Accommodation
Volunteers will stay in a shared volunteer house or eco-lodge located near the conservation site. This setting provides a comfortable and environmentally friendly living environment that allows volunteers to immerse themselves fully in the local coastal lifestyle.

- Snorkeling and Diving: Explore the vibrant coral reefs and marine life around Hikkaduwa, Mirissa, or Trincomalee.
- Beach Exploration: Relax on the beautiful beaches of Unawatuna, Bentota, or Arugam Bay.
- Cultural Sites: Visit the historic Galle Fort, the sacred city of Kandy, or the ancient ruins of Polonnaruwa.
