What is this Volunteer Program?
The “Volunteer Teaching and Youth Empowerment” program is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people in Sri Lanka while contributing to global sustainability goals. As a participant, you will join ZeroPlastic Movement, a globally validated volunteer organization recognized for its efforts in fostering sustainable development and environmental protection.
This program aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and supports the UN’s 2026 International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development. It is designed for volunteers who are passionate about education and youth empowerment. You will work directly with children in local schools, focusing on essential subjects such as English, math, and science, and incorporating environmental education to nurture a sustainable mindset from an early age.
Beyond your primary teaching role, you’ll have the chance to engage in various projects led by the ZeroPlastic Movement’s extensive network of over 11,000 volunteers across the country. These projects cover a wide range of activities, including climate action initiatives, community development efforts, and cultural heritage preservation. This flexibility allows you to tailor your volunteer experience to your personal interests and skills.
Volunteers will receive a globally recognized certificate from ZeroPlastic Movement, highlighting their contributions to SDGs and climate change, enhancing their credentials for future educational or career opportunities.
